Teixeira steps down at Boparan, replaced by Tom Crowley: Tom Crowley has assumed the position of chief executive of Boparan Restaurant Group as Joe Teixeira steps down. Taking up the role with immediate effect, Crowley will oversee Boparan Restaurant Group’s portfolio of brands – Giraffe World Kitchen, Giraffe Stop, Ed’s Easy Diner, Burgers & Cocktails, Wondertree and also Harry Ramsden’s and FishWorks following Teixeira’s decision to step down as chief executive of Boparan Ventures to explore new roles within the sector. Crowley said: “We thank Joe for his support in developing Harry Ramsden’s and FishWorks and wish him the very best for the future. Moving forward, with seven quality brands operating in over 100 sites alongside a strong franchise business, we intend to quickly establish Boparan Restaurant Group as a major player in the hospitality market. Our objective is to further strengthen and grow the positions of all our brands nationally and internationally while at the same time creating a restaurant group with the capability of making future acquisitions.” The Cinnamon Collection will continue to be managed separately by Vivek Singh.

Pub Culture acquires Cameron venue: Sunderland-based Pub Culture has acquired the city’s Dun Cow venue from Camerons Brewery. Located in the city centre on High Street West, the pub has been under Camerons’ ownership since November 2014. Pub Culture has acquired the grade II-listed premises in a bid to establish it as a “key element” of the proposed Music, Arts and Culture (MAC) Quarter being created as part of Sunderland’s bid to become UK City of Culture in 2021. “The Dun Cow is integral to the development of the MAC Quarter,” said Paul Callaghan, who sits on the MAC’s board of trustees. “Camerons has been a fantastic partner in establishing it once more as a pub that Sunderland can be proud of and we are delighted the brewery will continue to supply the Dun Cow with its superb range of beers and spirits that have become firm favourites with the city’s pub-goers.” Chris Soley, chief executive of Camerons, added: “The work he has done to develop the site and his vision of what he intends to do in the area is the reason we started working with him. Following discussions with Paul it became clear the Dun Cow was an integral part of the MAC Trust’s development of the cultural quarter. The plans it has in place look extremely exciting so we reached an agreement with him to hand the venue back so they could use this to form a key part of the development.”
